Michael Jordan, the six-time NBA champion and five-time MVP, is officially joining NBC Sports as a special contributor to its upcoming NBA coverage.

The network made the surprise announcement Monday during its annual Upfronts, revealing a short nostalgic video of Jordan’s iconic moments on the court.

The moment lit up social media, with NBC posting, “A legendary addition to our team! We’re thrilled to welcome Michael Jordan as a special contributor to the NBA on NBC and Peacock.”

Jordan, 62, also addressed fans via a brief video message, marking his return to the professional basketball limelight — not as a player or team owner, but as a voice on one of the most anticipated sports broadcasting comebacks in years.

This will be his first on-camera role covering the NBA since his retirement in 2003.
