Coldplay fans at the Foxborough concert on Wednesday may not have expected the kind of chaos that would ensue, leading to a worldwide phenomenon overnight.
During a segment of the show, frontman Chris Martin decided to entertain the crowd with a kiss cam to serenade them. However, as the camera spotted a loved-up couple in the crowd, which should have been a cute moment, but quickly became scandalous after how they reacted to appearing on the jumbotron.
“Oh, look at these two!” Martin had said, but the couple was shocked and instantly untangled and hid away.
Without skipping a beat, the Yellow hitmaker said, “Either they’re having an affair or they’re just very shy.”
It turns out that it was not far from the truth. The couple in question were Astronomer CEO Andy Byron and the company’s HR head Kristin Cabot, who are married to different people.
Internet was in a buzz for days following the incident and it even prompted a reactionary tweet from the British band to go viral.
“Starting with our next show, we’re introducing camera-free audience sections for people and their sidepieces.”
However, fact-checking AI tool Grok, when tagged in the post, swiftly debunked the claim.
“No, this screenshot is fabricated,” it stated. “Coldplay has not announced camera-free sections for ‘sidepieces’ — no such post exists on their official X account or in recent news. Likely a joke.”
